The Penny Lady

God and I have a game that we play each and every day. Some may say not to play games with God - but it isn't like that... it goes like this. Every day whether I be out for a walk, or in a parking lot or even around the house I find a coin - usually pennies, but sometimes other coins. And I never fail to pick it up and say "In God I Trust!" I take them as a sign from God that He knows about my financial situation and that He will provide my every need. A friend of mine tells me that they are 'angel pennies".. but whatever they are - I know that God puts them there for me to find.

this is where my name "The Penny Lady" started.

from E/A 2009
If you want to know why I have a Penny as my photo on EA.... it is because lately I keep on finding pennies in unusual places. These are a sign from God that He knows about my financial needs and He is my provider.

Here are some of my stories:

Hey Melanie: Whats up? I over scheduled myself today and boy am I zonked. I interpreted one class this morning at the college. Then my boss needed me to interpret for a deaf man and that put me late getting to my lessons in Finger. Then Melissa called me at 3 and asked if I forgot to pock her up at grandma's and I said "no, I have another hour of lessons" and then she reminded me that I was supposed to teach music lessons at our house at 3:15. and so I had to call Macee's mom and tell her I would be an hour late for that. When I got home after picking Melissa up from grandma's Macee was already in my driveway. Then as soon as her lessons were over dad had supper from taco bell for me to eat.... so I have been running like crazy. I did want to tell you that when I was at Wilma's house teaching lessons, I was sitting at the table filling out the paper work, and I looked on the floor and there was a penny. I said "ok God, you are seeing if i am paying attention." I picked up the penny and left it on the table. (i don't take coins from people's houses.).. Is that cool or what?

Thanks for writing me back. I love you! I have another penny story to tell you. Dad, Melissa and I went to the Market (BP) after church to get our dinner and while we were there, an older man bought a paper and was walking past me, when he dropped an insert from the paper. Another person besides me noticed it and both said something to the man at the same time. I stooped over and picked up the insert to hand to the man, and noticed a penny on the floor. I asked if it was his and he said no, it wasn't. So I picked it up and dropped it in the donation can on the counter. (are you tired of my penny stories yet?) I probably need to keep a journal about it and write a book... it is amazing!

Hello my Melanie: Well my Penny Story for today goes like this. It was raining when I went to teach my lessons today at Finger Christian Fellowship. So I pulled my car right up beside the front entrance of he church. I got out on the passenger side (crawling across the seats), and gathered up my stack of music books in one hand and my umbrella in the other. When I went inside, I noticed I was walking down the center asile of the church and I thought "this isn't such a good idea, I might have mud or be dragging wet from the rain down the main asile of the sanctuary" and so I turned to cut through a pew and you'll never guess - there on the floor of that pew I was crossing between was a penny. I kid you not! It is amazing how I have a penny story every day isn't it? Well, I love you. write back. Mother

I love my Melanie!!! How are you this weekend? My calendar is completely free of any schedules today and so I am just basking between the BBQ festival and home. I love not have a pressured time set for every movement I make today. But.... I am not complaining. Oh - Melissa and I were at the BBQ festival listening to Joretta sing this morning, and I saw something in the grass, I kindof thought it must be a rock or something, and I asked Melissa what it was... she said "where?" and I reached over to get it, and the rock turned into a dime. I kid you not! God puts them there just for me! Melissa was just as shocked as I was... pretty cool huh? I think it is totally just the neatest thing.

What are you doing today? I just finished teaching four music lessons and updating my EA page and commenting back to some replies. I did a load of laundry this morning and did my exercises. I also practiced the dulcimer, guitar and violin and sang "Alabaster Box" for my vocal training. Changed my sheets and made my bed. Uploaded about 10 floppy disc of pics to Walmart.com and called my mom for our weekly chat. Also talked to Marisa briefly. Had a banana and some yogurt and trailmix for breakfast. It is noon now, and so I better go see what I can do to make the best use of my afternoon. I could sit here all day, but how boring is that... :> oh yeah, I also played two games of pacman and one of bookworm (of course!) oh and yeah, prayed and when I was cleaning in the exercise room I found a dime. I told you God sends me "angel pennies" or in this case "dime" every day! Love ya! momma

October 9, 2008 - well Melanie, my penny story for today goes like this.... I found a new friend on EC named Penny and I also found a new mouse cursor for my pointer - it is a rotating coin. Not quite as exciting as some of my other stories, but still something that I found without actually LOOKING for it. :> oh my friend Penny is Penny Chilton (no relation that we know of...) but still that is pretty cool isn't it? And while I am yaking at you - don't forget that it is Grandma's 94th birthday this Saturday. Okay... Love momma (PS.. we walked in the back yard this evening and we have some beautiful leaves and berries on the trees back there. it is awesome...)

October 12, 2008 - today it was a dime. Yesterday it was a nickle. The day before it was several coins. Every day - God let's me know He is in control. Friday - He let me know through a minister that it is In God We Trust".

October 13, 2008 well my penny story for today goes like this. We went to El Ranchitos for lunch yesterday and when Melissa and I were both getting out on the passenger side of the car I noticed something underneath the vehicle parked beside of our car and I wasn't positive but it looked like a blackened dime. So instead of getting overly excited about my discovery, I wanted to share my findings with Melissa and so I asked her what it was and she leaned over and said it was a dime. And so I snatched my "In God We Trust" token up off of the asphalt and triumphly marched into the restraunt. (It wasn't a penny, but still a token from God nonetheless.) Love ya, Momma

My penny story for Tuesday, October 21st...
well Melanie, as I told you 2 weeks ago about finding the random penny at Finger Christian Fellowship.. which I picked up and placed on the sound booth. Well last week I looked and the penny was still where I left it. Yesterday I looked and it was in a different location on the sound booth and another penny had joined it. Is that cool or what?
Love ya, Mother

Hi - Melanie - where did all your comments go? You were getting rich with all of my "pennies" on your page. LOL.
Well, anyway... my Penny story for today is... Thursday evening (October 23, 2008) Melissa and I went to the Chester County Public Library and were looking at books... and.... I was just glancing at a shelf in the children's section when a book jumped out at me (not literally)... the title is... "A Penny's Worth of Character". I brought the book home and started reading it... the story is about a boy who lived on a farm and one day his mother had him take some sacks of flour to town to sell to the grocerier. She told him to not take one sack because it had a hole in it, and so there were 9 sacks for him to take and to sell for 1 penny each. Well, the boy took all 10 of the sacks because he wanted to receive a dime because in those days he could get a chocolate bar and a bottle of lemon soda pop with it. The grocerier looked though most of the sacks but didn't notice the one with the hole and gave the boy the chocolate bar and pop that he wanted. Well, when he got back home the mother told him to march back to the store and tell the grocerier what he had done. The boy didn't want to walk a whole mile just for a penny - but of course he did (the mom also was sending a new bag to replace the one with the hole in it). The grocerier had already noticed the hole before the boy got back and when he saw him with another bag and offered to pay him a penny for the new bag. Which the boy declined and confessed. The man knew that it was the boy's mother who had made him do the right thing. Isn't that a nice story? Well.... love you, Mother!

November 12, 2008
Okay my story for yesterday is this. I was at FCF and since I didn't have time for a lunch break I was sitting in the music room eating some tortilla chips during one of the lessons. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I had dropped part of a chip, but when I looked, no it was a dime there on the floor in the prayer room/ music room. I am like okay God, you always know how to get to me, and it was like I could hear God laughing at me. I told you He likes this game as much as I do. I left the dime there, as it wasn't public domain. :> (oh and the other two pennies are still on the sound booth ledge).

December 15, 2008
It isn't that we haven't had any penny stories lately, I have just failed to post them.
It seems as if God is transfering some of my penny findings to my daughter Melissa. Twice on Saturday we were both walking into store, and she was in front of me each time and she found a penny while walking into Books a Million, and another one at Hobby Lobby. I think they are meant for me, but she walks in front of me now and gets to them before I can. (:>). Also on Saturday, we did something we rarely do - we went to see the movie Bolt. I had seen the previews about it on Daystar and knew that there was a girl in the movie named Penny. But wow was I really surprised when there was actually a coin (a lucky penny) several times in the movie. God talks to me everywhere! Then sometime last week I went up into the attic to get something and I ran across a binder up there (one of those white vinyl looseleaf notebook paper binders with the clear cover) and in the front of it was a gold dollar coin.

December 16, 2008
Today when I went to Wilma's house to teach music lessons. I was walking to the piano and saw a gold coin on the floor. I thought at first it was a gold dollar, but it was a to coin with the John 3:16 verse on it. I knew it was a special message from God to me.

December 27, 2008 - we went to see the movie "Bedtime Stories" and low and behold right in the movie is a scene where a penny is involved. I am like wow! Where did that come from? God are you trying to talk to me? totally awesome!

It makes one think----

Subject: Only a penny....

we hear the usual stories of pennies on the sidewalk being good luck, gifts from angels, etc. This is the first time I've ever heard this twist on the story. Gives you something to think about.
Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house
The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live. The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.

As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband.
He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.

Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.

He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?

Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.

A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this?

'Look at it.' He said. 'Read what it says.' She read the words ' United States of America '
'No, not that; read further.'
'One cent?' 'No, keep reading.'
'In God we Trust?' 'Yes!'
'And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust=20 IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful!

When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, 'In God We Trust,' and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message.

It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And, God is patient..

1/30/2009 -
I have failed to record some of my most recent findings and for that I am sorry. Because now I have forgotten the exact dates of each, but in order to not forget completely I will do my best to update. I know it was last Sunday (Jan 25) when I had been concerned because I couldn't recall finding a coin for at least two days in a row that week. But then coming home from church on Sunday morning I turned around to say something to Melissa and when I did, I spotted a penny on the floorboard. I was so excited. It was like God reassuring me, that He is still keeping up with me. Then I think it was yesterday or maybe the day before that I found a dime on the floor by the computer. And one day earlier last week I found another dime. They might not seem to be as frequent as they were, but still nevertheless - God is still providing our needs. Also, this is not a COIN story - but... still something that needs to be said... I may have mentioned it somewhere in a blog or in comments or somewhere, but just in case I haven't I want to tell this. Last Fall when it was time to go up into the attic to round up our winter clothes, I was searching for my worn out leather coat from last year, thinking that was the only coat that I had that would be suitable for both church and work. But I found a beautiful black trench coat made of gorgeous taspestry type material. It is just wonderful. I vaguely recall having worn it maybe once or twice last winter, but I had forgotten completely all about it or where it had come from. I honestly do not remember buying it. I don't know who might have given it to me or anything. It is a complete blank. But there it was and I have worn it all Fall and Winter and people continue to complement me on it. It is really a nice coat. And I feel like God put it there. I know, I know - I kind of have a feeling that I might have had it last year, but I just remember wearing the black leather coat that was all getting worn around the cuffs and collar. So.. where did this coat come from? Only God really knows. And also... another blessing - my husband occasionally runs across bags of clothes that people are throwing out when he picks up their garbage. (I know the COAT was NOT one of those incidents)... but I have a skirt on this morning that was from one of his findings. It is a long black skirt, no splits of anykind and it is my SIZE! Thank you Jesus! God knows what we need and He always provides.

Feb 12, 2009 - Today I was heading to class and at the base of the steps in the stairwell was a quarter. You don't know how many people come through that stairwell and for that quarter to be there just for me to find. Thank you Jesus - it is in God I trust!

Feb 14, 2009 - Wow... God kept on sending me little Valentines today. We went to Paducah and there at the Quilt Museum was a Quilt with this huge Penny in the center with the words In God We Trust. (we weren't allowed to take pics, but my husband did try to get a little of it on his phone camera.) Then while we were walking to various shops my brother found a penny for me and later a dime for my daughter Melissa. Then we were at an antique shop and I saw a little gold coin purse with the words mad money on it. I showed it to Melissa and she wanted to buy it. There was no price on it, but the man sold it to us for $3. Inside was a penny. (it just keeps on happening.)

March 11,2009 - today it was a dime in the washing machine. I nearly cried when I found it. I know God is talking to me. (reassuring me). Then in the PM I was listening to the TBN broadcast and the man before Rev. Rex Johnson spoke was talking about money in our pocket saying that "In God We Trust"... Wow!

In God I so very much trust..

Sandy Morris (pastor's wife from Hopewell) stopped by my house on Thursday afternoon, I had heard a knocking at my door but I was in the back, by the time I got to the door Sandy was driving off in her work truck.. I ran out and she saw me and stopped and told me about Summer's surgery not going good and she had tears in her eyes and asked me to pray, which I told her I would. As I was walking back to the house beside the back tire of her truck was a penny, I stepped aside to allow her to drive off so I could pick it up. well. u know me being the penny lady and I, I claim it as a sign from God that He has all things in control.
then today (Saturday) Mark took me up to LeBonheur hospital and I gave Ella a painting and a card, a cup and that penny and told her the story about how I found it. And she got tears in her eyes. God talks to her through pennies also and said that Summer always picked up penny's and gave them to her grandma and said they were from Johnny (Ella's son that had died). They keep a big jar of found pennies at their house. So ella took the penny I had given her and dropped in in the cup that I had given for Summer and said that could be her penny jar until she was able to drink out of a cup again. Then a little later we all went back into a family conference room and was sitting there talking and Sandy (Summer's mother) and her favorite Aunt sat on the floor because there wasn't enough chairs. After awhile they stood up to go back to Summer's room when they were given the okay for the immediate family to go there, and there on the floor right where Sandy had been sitting was a penny. And ella said they had been in that room earlier and it hadn't been on the floor then. We all get excited when God gives us His kisses and let's us know He is in control. TYJ

okay, I have slacked up on this blog... I find evidences of His love all the time and meant to post it, but so much has gotten away from me.
However finding dollar bills in the dryer... finding dimes in unusual places, still finding coins while walking etc... God is good and in Him I trust. yesterday while walking across the parking lot to Southern Oaks a Penny. - He will supply all of my needs - not just in finding money, last evening as I was booking a flight for my daughter and grandson to come next month the cheaper tickets came with long layovers, however Marisa found one that was a non stop flight to Memphis but thought it was still with layovers going home, I did a search and found a nonstop fight round trip for cheaper than what the ones with layovers were. TYJ! I know God loves me and provides these things.

In God I Trust!!

Today's findings involve a very tight squeeze behind the dryer in the laundry room. I thought the duct hose had come off of the back of the dryer and so I wedged back there to see, and sure enough, but there on the edge of the exposed hose was a dime. A dime with the every present echoing words saying "I am taking care of you"... In God I Trust!!
